Clan Gathering 2008
Was held in
Saint Charles
Missouri

The 2008 CLSI gathering was held April 4th to 6th in St. Charles, Missouri, in conjunction with the Missouri Tartan Day Festivities.  30 Leslies from as far away as Scotland and Canada made their way to historic St. Charles for a great weekend of Leslie fun.

Friday evening kicked off with a meet and greet at Tony’s on Main, where the Leslies got reacquainted with one another over a delicious appetizer buffet. After that, it was off to the banks of the Missouri River for the Missouri Tartan Day Festivities torchlight ceremony where  Clan Leslie was named the 2008 Honored Clan. The Leslies led the procession of clans and Vice Chieftain, David Leslie White, opened the ceremonies by “answering the call” and lighting an 8-foot ceremonial  torch at the center of the field.  Afterwards, Tartan Day Festivities Chairman Jim Slack honored Clan Leslie with a banner, plaque and bottles of Drambuie and Aberfeldy, presented to Chieftain Bob Bailey.

Getting Ready for the Parade on Saturday Morning.
On Saturday, gathering attendees lined up for the Parade of Clans down St. Charles’ historic Main Street.  Once again, Clan Leslie led the way as a colorful procession of clans, pipe bands and performers made their way through the center of town.  After the parade everyone spent time visiting at the tent and enjoying games, vendors and exhibits. 11 Leslies from the greater St. Louis area (who are not currently CLSI members) visited the tent. Many took applications and at least one person joined that day!  Later that evening, Clan Leslie celebrated at Pio’s Italian Restaurant with a cocktail hour, fabulous banquet and fantastic entertainment by Highland Reign.
It was truly a night to remember!

On Sunday, everyone met back at Pio’s for a continental breakfast and business meeting.  It was sad to say goodbye to everyone, but we’re looking forward to the next gathering in 2010. If you missed this one, make it a point to attend the next gathering. There is no better way to get to know other members of CLSI than to attend a gathering!
